The fast runs from Fajr (true dawn) to Maghrib (sunset). Cities with a published mosque timetable follow it; the rest are calculated with the method used locally. Far north, where twilight lingers, the method changes Fajr by many minutes, so check with your mosque.

Last Ten Nights and Laylat al-Qadr 2027

No one knows the exact night of Laylat al-Qadr, also called Laylatul Qadr or Shab-e-Qadr. It is sought in the odd nights of the last ten, which begin at sunset on Saturday 27 February 2027. Each night begins at sunset on the evening before its day.

  1. 21st nightBegins at sunsetIf Ramadan starts a day later: Sunday 28 February
  2. 23rd nightBegins at sunsetIf Ramadan starts a day later: Tuesday 2 March

The 27th night, when many gather in the mosque, begins on the evening of Friday 5 March. If your mosque starts Ramadan a day later, every night moves one evening later.

Eid al-Fitr 2027: Date and Prayer Times

Sources and Method

  1. Dates come from the published calculated calendars and moon-sighting forecasts, checked on Saturday 24 October 2026. We update this page as announcements are made, and on the evening of Sunday 7 February we switch it to the confirmed start.
  2. Calculation methods differ at dawn. MWL (Muslim World League) puts Fajr at 18° below the horizon and ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) at 15°, so in the UK the ISNA suhoor end is about 20 minutes later: 05:34 against 05:53 in London on the first day. Maghrib is sunset with no offset in both.
MWL18°Fajr below the horizon · London day 1 suhoor ends 05:34
ISNA15°Fajr below the horizon · London day 1 suhoor ends 05:53
  3. Times are worked out by Pillars with the adhan library, or taken from the timetable a city's mosques publish. The full data is free to reuse as JSON. For background, read Ramadan 2027: dates, start day and what to expect on our blog.
  4. Also used: moon phases from the US Naval Observatory; and a cross-check of our calculations against a second library, praytimes 2.3.2, which agrees within half a minute.

What to Expect and How to Prepare

  • Short winter fasts

Around 11½ hours at the start and just over 13 at the end in most UK cities (calculated, MWL).
  • Early iftars

Around 5pm in early February and 6pm by early March in the UK, so for many people the fast ends at work or on the commute.
  • Eid on a weekday

Both possible dates, Tuesday 9 March and Wednesday 10 March, are weekdays. If you plan to book time off, confirm early which date your mosque will follow.
  • Eid prayer

Held in the morning after sunrise; UK mosques often run several jama'ahs. East London Mosque held four in 2026, from 7:00 to 10:30am. [East London Mosque]
